Princesses

Maya has developed a fascination with princesses- more specifically Disney princesses. Princesses that were developed by a corporation to create consumers, to instill passive helpless qualities to our little girls, to create the myth that they need to be served and not serve.

Maya thinks they are oh so pretty and just loves them. She knows all the names of the characters despite never actually viewing the movies. She simply does not understand that they act as a marketing tool for Disney. The hook the kids on the movie, then sell licensing agreements to makers from everything from toothbrushes to underwear to sand toys. Children in turn Must have those items acting as walker advertisements for a corporation.

Maya does not understand these these are not strong female characters. These are influence I rather she not be exposed to. She does not need a man in shining armor to have a perfect life. Life does not always have a happy ending. Sorry to be the spoil sport but I would rather have Maya rooted in reality and be aware there is suffering in this world and as a Christian it is our duty to serve and be instruments of God and do his work, rather then serving a god of materism. consumerism.
