The Birth Of Jessie

Maya has had a friend named Jessie for awhile now. She would mention that Jessie said this, or she does that. Some details like she has lots of brothers, and she lives in the country would come out from time to time. This Jessie girl was starting to actually comeup quite often in conversation. We thought perhaps she attended school with Maya or maybe she knew her from Awana. The details just didn't make sense though, until one day I asked Maya if Jessie was real or pretend.

Turns out our little Maya has an imaginary friend. Turns out that Jessie has made quite an impression on Maya. Turns out that Jessie's parents died so all of her brothers and all of her sisters have moved in with us. There are seven of each, The boys sleep with me and the girls sleep with Maya. Jessie goes to school on a school bus, so sometimes Maya has to wait on the porch for her to get home. Jessie must be older cause she has done everything and has much wisdom to share with Maya. 'Jessie says...' is a typical statement coming from Maya.

Jessie is alot of fun, we are including her in all of our activities, it is just to much fun not to.

Negative Niny

The Hanover Hospital in all of its wisdom has decided that it is need of a outdoor fitness trail on site. The money to cover the costs for constructing the trail will come from grant money and of course fund-raising. Any sort of exercise is a good thing, everybody could stand to be more active, but do I think we need a specially build trail to do so...no.

The town of Hanover has been blessed with sidewalks, well constructed sidewalk, or very wide roads to walk/run on. We also has a gravel oval track at the local high school. Both options are close to most homes in Hanover, however the hospital is not. As the hospital lies on the outskirts of town I am sure people will drive to use the fitness trail. I'm sure some of the attraction is that it is to be in a wooded setting... oh but somebody forget HANOVER ALREADY HAS A RAIL TRAiL????

New Shoes

I LOVE getting new running shoes. Today I purchased a pair of Asics kayano 14. Then tonight went off for a run in them. It is amazing to suddenly be running on a cushioned surface after running on my well used previous shoes. What sucks is the shoes retail price -135$USD. However I did not pay that, in fact way more then that. I want to support the local guy who supports local races but at what cost?

In other related spending money news, or rather want to spend money... I REALLY NEED a ipod nano and the nike run sport kit. There are after market products for adaption for use with non- nike shoes. I guess my birthday is coming soon.

No Fun

How to make a shower stressful...........

Prophesied

As we prophesied Evers name- Everest- mountain we determined his body type.

Ever at five months is 17 pounds, 10oz. He is ABOVE the 95% for weight on a breastfed infants growth chart. Sure 'the experts' say you can't over feed a breastfed infant... well perhaps I am. I can't deal with worrying about the weight of another family member. Perhaps we should let him cry it out a few times to expel of calories, we should stop using the breast for comfort- this boy is just to BIG...

We are kidding but Luke remarked the other day that he doesn't know how I carry him around all day.

Report Card Time

Maya recived her first report card this month from her Montessori Children's House.
She dose not care in the slightest about its contents, but I do. I knew it was coming so I was so excitted to see it in her cubby, however I am slightly disapointed. I was looking for more her, not just a comaprission to the 'norms'. No major surpises. She I am well aware Maya has NO motivation. Surpised that she deminstaights independence, as here she wants assistance to do tasks she is well beoned needing help for. She has started some simple addition, but she just isn't into numbers.

I hope they are teaching her phonics.

Sleeping Beauty

Soooo i'm sure everybody is wondering- What is going on with our family bed?
Well actually it is like we have two family beds. First Maya goes to bed in her own bed, looks at books until she goes to sleep. Then I nurse Ever to sleep in my bed, sometimes I go directly to sleep or I get up until realizes he is alone where as then I go to sleep. Luke, in the middle of the night stummbles into Mayas room and sleeps with her. At persisely 7;30 every morning Ever nurses himself awake, and starts talking, at which point I go and get into bed with Maya and Luke climbs into bed with Ever for qulaity try to ignore Ever time and get a few more minites rest. Maya usually wakes up cause I am cuddling her to closely. Luke and I have stoped sleeping with each other to maintain a fetus free enviroment until his vasectomy.

Become a Plummer

This is the work in progress of the plummer that came to our house. In short order he restored running water to our bathtub, allowed the water to drain from our tub, the toliet now flushes EVERYTHING, and our
bathroom tap despendses water correctly, not opposite. In doing so he replaced inproperly instailled hardware, cut into walls, and left a BIG mess.

Snow

As you can see we are having alot of snow as of late. So much so that people remark on the buried vealicles in our lane. BUT today after Luke had finished with the pathetic amount he does shovel ( as in he dosn't do enough) the man in the backhoe see in the background cam and cleared everthing out. Now we have a sledding hill in our back yard.

Bumbo

I got Ever a Bumbo for this specific purpose- sitting on the kitchen counter while I am cooking. I think it may cut off the circulation to his legs due the purple discolouration, but he dosn't really need blood flow to his legs though, you can get by with out it.

Too much Snow

As every surface in hanover is covered in snow I went to the gym tonight to use the dread-mill.
Way to boring and tecnical- no joy. Although it is nice to know that I burned excaly 530 caleries in a hour, ran 5.31miles, and could make any moment a hill. Was also to hot, and my shoes are a nice shade of grey/brown unlike everybody elses pristine white.

Lesson of the Day

Boys and Girls
When you buy a house, assume all work that the previous owners did is crap.

I don't care what people say about Britney spears...I still think she can produce something I can run to, and for that she will always be great!

My Carrots

...has passed on. He was not breathing well through the weekend so on Monday he went to the vet. The vet felt it could have possibly be pnemonia and we treated it as such. It was just a possiblylty, and for a more consuslive diagnosis we would have had to do xrays and blood work. We desided that if it was pnemonia we would be treating it and he would get better and if it wasn't we would not want to treat a chronic illness found with further testing.
Hense Carrots died we think early in the morning on Feb 7th. Mango seems to be ok. He hasn't been mopping around yet. Poor little guy will be loney for his brother. I miss my carrots. He was soo sweet.

It's Alive!!

Ya so I still live here. I don't know why I haven't made a blog post in a long time, I just haven't felt the urge to I guess. Part of it is Ever I am sure, as he often doesn't go to sleep well at night so I have him until late and then I if I want to play a game or anything I am doing it later.

Anyway, I plan on trying to post more and keep my facebook more up to date, even just if its a couple of minutes a day.

The main thing I feel bad about not posting more about is the death and funeral of my Grandad. He was a pretty cool grandad and I always enjoyed seeing him. I am very glad he didn't have to spend time in a nursing home and was in pretty good condition until pretty much the end. I hope I die with dignity like that (and as old).
It especially nice to see my Nana doing so well without him. She seems to be doing well at the seniors complex and is in good spirits. I also hope I am tough like her in the face of tragedy when I am older and continue on to glorify God for a few more years.

Now, laundry to do before Ever wakes up or Anne gets mad :)

We are Famous!

You can check out a couple of our photos on Photography by Charlottes website. There is one of Maya and one of my belly with all of our hands. Sorry no naked ones.

A lifetime of pretty things

The Maddock family gathered today to clean and sort through the remaining objects in John and Sallys Elm street home. John and Sally are Lukes maternal grandparents and I have known them for 12 years, the years that Luke and I have been a couple. They have always have been and will be family to me. They as a couple have made me feel so loved and welcome. Be it with always enduring the fire on high cause they know how much I love it, to giving me that special chocolate, to praying with us, to completly understanding why I kept my name, and to giving me special pretty presents. Sally is a lover of all that is beautiful. As a artist she could work magic with paint, fabric, old cards, wallpaper, flowers, words, and so much more. I felt inspired in her home with her creative touches. She made banners for the church, advertisments for pancake dinners, unique paintings, collages of birthday cards, and published a book of poetry. When the time came to sort through her belongings the most cherished items were the ones in which she had made, not the things which had been bought.

We all need to slow down from busy lives, forget that the dishes are not done, stop driving places , plus all the other millions of excuese we have. We need to start thinking or learning about doing. Write, take photographs, sew, cook, paint, draw, sing, garden.

This photo says sooo many things

-This is Brew. A vizsla. He seems to be the only dog I currently like. I also liked Popcorn, a jack russel. Most dogs I find to be disguesting. I do not like that Annie kept on getting Brew to kiss Ever.
- The hidden girl is Annie, I just helped her delete her facebook. I have so few friends. Seriouly depressing. If you are on facebook I want to be your friend. Ever if we have met once I still want to be your friend. Please....Pathetic I know.
- Why do people drink tonic water???
- Annie is wearing her designer sweats. They are nice, I am jealous. She is jealous of my underwar hat I wear to go running.

A little underage

On the way home from Owen Sound last weekend, Ever was upset so we let home drive. Don't tell.

Cut!

We finninally got Maya's hair cut!! It was just too impossible to comb through it anymore, and up to this point she has been too erifed to get it cut. She has even gotten upset when I got MY hair cut. A friend from church does hair from home, and seeing that Maya knew her, we thought she might do ok. I saved a few of her really blond curls, you can't really tell it has been touched, bounces really nice. Nope I didn't cry.

Bed

Maya has a current fasination in making beds and sleeping in odd locations. ie. The end of the bed, the living room, kitchen floor etc. When she slept in the living room I was pariond she would get up in the middle of the night and wunder outside.
