Leader

After roughly four years of sporadic work I finally completed the process to become a La Leche league leader. This means that I can officially run a group, offer advice and have some sort of credentials to back it up. I certainly do not feel like I know all the answers but I do know where to get information. So ask away..

Umm I think this is a present occasion. Or at least a card.

FOURTH!!!???@#@$@$

I ran my first race today since August 2008, and my first cross country race since I was 16. I must I was extremely surprised at the results. The race was a 5 Peaks trail series run in Horseshoe Valley. I did the short sport race at 4.6km. It actually was the largest race I have ever been in with over 500 registered runners. So I'm thinking competition is going to be tough and the runners in better form then a large breasted, heavy footed, wearing non- technical apparel, sleep deprived recreational runner. I was thinking around 5.5ishmin/kms for a 30min race. I had no idea how to seed myself and ended up getting some middle age women telling me I had better get started while the tail end of the third wave was going though the start line. In actual fact I should have been in the second seed as I did ALOT of passing and actually ended up being stuck behind slower runners in a single track section. Imagine my surprise when I went through the finish line and saw the clock at 28min. I was really pleased with 28minutes until Luke reminded me that I didn't start when the clock did. Thus when the chip time results where posted I let out a scretch for 25min. Then I looked for my age/gender category and scetched again for a forth place finish out of 58. So very happy I did so well but so disappointed I missed a cool metal. Oh well maybe the second place finisher will be disqualified for doping.

It was cool having Annie, John, and Brew there to cheer me on, and keep Luke company. Annie was also very helpful in leading me in some stretches...and what not to wear. :)

Quilt

So when the kids get older and I am suffering from an injury so I can't run, I have decided I am going to make a quilt from their old clothes for ME. I am the one who has tender loving memories choosing their clothes old and lovingly dressing them in them. I will wrap it around myself as they leave me in Peace so I can finely read my book.

Exposed...Almost

It has finally happened. I had a bad experience running alone. I went to Allan Park and left my car in the main parking lot, noting a man parked at the entrance to the trails. I made eye contact, said hi, and thought perhaps he was waiting for somebody. Fast forward 6ish km later, I'm feeling good, thinking about making a second small lope around the pond so I come up the back way to the parking lot. I see the man turned with his back to me, naked except for his underpants pulled up his crack like a thong. I don't think he saw me, but I turned around and ran out of the park onto the main road to a friendly looking house. The occupant drove me back to my car, and as we approached he drove away but not before I took his licence plate number.

It makes me soo mad that I have to be worried about stuff like this, just like a man I deserve to be safe and the freedom to run in the park. The officer I spoke to agreed, but due to the fact I didn't actually see genitals he can't be charged. But the officer agreed to follow- up, epesically since he and his wife run there alone frequently.

The pervert didn't win, I just will be smarter about carrying my cell and pepper spray.

Question

Is it wrong to wear a pair of maternity capris now that I am not pregnanet? They have a normal wasit band and I always wore them under the baby belly. I still think they look cute..

Brant Track

Thanks to Stephanie, yesterday Luke and I went to the Brant track for quality time apart. I ran about 12km and Luke rode about 10km. What I loved about this trail is it is soo well marked, and the absolute fun factor. Well, there was one error on the map. They had recently redid devils elbow and the length represented on the map was not the actual lengthy distance. Oh well. All trails above beginner are rolling hills, single track twisty and turny. If you chose you do not have to do any straight aways. As well there were no bugs- I give it about a week though until we are swarmed.

Two Points

  • I bought a Yoga video ...umm i'm very pathetic and unflexable and uncordinated. What was I thinking?
  • Spring = Gardening. I like pretty green and pretty flowers but have no desire to learn what to do to make it so, don't mind the work so much, but have no idea what to do, and I cam never remeber what has been planted where, and I can nevr remeber the names of flowers beyond tulps and daisys.

On Running

To answer the question on how my running is going...

It is going fine. I still feel rather heavy lugging my body around with fifteen pounds I am yet to lose. Due the the extra weight I am having trouble getting in the speed work I need, but my endurance always seems to amaze me, if I had more time who knows the amount of kilometres I could add up. Speaking of adding up miles/ kilometres- of which I now have the ability to think of simultaneously, I received for my birthday the apple/nike run thingie- very cool. Although I think Luke has more fun with it then I am and he isn't even using it.

Another exciting development is the formation of the Saugeen triathlon club. I do not have enough time to learn to swim with any sort of skill but I do dualathlon (bike/run) it is great to be together with other fitness focused people who act to push you and support you. I am also liking the coached workouts. In time we may even get matching uniforms!!

So where is my running leading?.... Fitness, fitting into my pants, and longevity. In addition , there are a few races I want to do this year... maybe more then a few...

Chesley Community Classic

Mount Forest Trillium Run

Kincardine Woman's Triathlon

Owen Sound Triathlon

Wiarton Shore to Shore

Collingwood Half

Duntrun Trail Run

Sauble Beach 8km

Southampton 5km

Meaford 5km

Trail Run Horseshoe Valley

I know I will not be able to do them all, and if I place in any of them I would be surprised, but I just love a race and the food after. It is almost free!!! Well except for your entrance fee.

Happy Birthday Anne!

So Anne is 30 today. So far there have been no breakdowns.
But I think when ones presents mainly have to do with Jogging and fitness, then you are doing just fine.

So happy birthday to my beautiful, wonderful wifey.

Just Sad

I was filling out a online survey that asked for my age category and I realized that as of tomorrow I will not be in the hip and cool 20-29 category but the old, boring, 30-39 category.

Somebody should get some chocolate, alot of chocolate, I think I need it now. I like the expensive stuff.

Epicure Spice Party

Some people clean when they are expecting company, but I am soo over having a clean house to impress people so instead I sew!
These napkins are for the Epicure spice party I am having tomorrow night. This a huge step for me and my people coming to my house phobia. Sooo this is the official reminder to come and an official invite for those of you I have forgotten to invite. It is not one of those come and buy parties but a come and help me have a purpose to having people over party.

Oh yah, if you like the napkins and I owe you a present- let me know they or ones very similar to match the decor of your kitchen can be yours.
