So on Tuesday at supper time all the ice on the east facing roof slid off and wrecked our eaves trough and back steps railing. Also wrecked the garage roof. We aren't terribly upset about the whole thing as its all covered by insurance and will give us an excuse to properly organize the garage.
So they will rebuild the back porch railing, fix the clothesline, and replace the garage roof, as well as some of the other minor damage bits and pieces. All in all we were pretty fortunate..
Because we have had an insane amount of snow the last few weeks and then suddenly it was 12 degrees on Monday, there have be more the a few homes around town with damage. The insurance guy was telling me that a couple of other garages like outs were smashed flat and one of them had a car in it. Pretty crazy. I couldn't even move some the pieces ice, I bet the long one that landed on the garage roof weighed more than out car.
For us its one of those firsts in life: first insurance claim! :)
